I’ve been slinging along a camera with me since I first picked one up in middle school. Photography has always been an outlet, not for creativity, but rather a form of meditation. And for that reason often times my camera will stay slung around my neck without actually taking any pictures.

Meditation isn’t about tuning out, or becoming a better person, or becoming connected with nature. You aren’t turning off your personal thoughts and feelings. It’s about learning to observe the world around without judgement. It heightens your awareness and focuses perspective.

For me, cycling and photography have provided me the ability to meditate. Connecting with people, with nature, the outdoors, without worrying about how my day at work went or what chores I have waiting for me at home. In this collection you will see images created purely for the love of this headspace I am able to tap into.

It took me a long time to understand why I enjoyed these outlets. I’ve constantly compared my performance and my gear to others. All of this was counter productive to what ultimately drove my passion. When the joy comes from meditation, do I really give a fuck about comparing myself to others?
